Description This is an original set of The Athenaeum's turned wood chess pieces. There are 25 chess pieces including 2 dark Bishops, 2 dark Knights, 2 dark Rooks, 6 dark Pawns, 1 light Bishop, 1 light Rook, and 8 light Pawns.
In order to complete this set, 6 replica pieces were made in 1983 by Daniel H. Barol. The replicas include 2 dark Pawns, 1 light Rook, 1 light Knight, 1 light Bishop, and 1 light King.
These chess pieces were on display at The Athenaeum in the second floor "Chess Room" from 1983 to 1990.
